My name is Thubi Mbugu, I am 65 years old and I live in Manchester, New Hampshire with my wife and children. I have 8 children and 7 grand kids. I worked at a factory until 2012 when I had a heart attack. Luckily for me, I survived it. When I tried to go back to work, I was really slow and at times unable to stand. My employer laid me off because they didn’t want to lose money and didn’t want to be response in case I fell on the job.
Thanks to Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), I have been collecting Social Security Disability since 2012. SSDI is very important because it helps me to continue to pay my mortgage, and I use the remaining paycheck for my bills and medication. Without SSDI, I could have lost my home that I worked so hard for when I was able to. Any cuts in my SSDI would tremendously affect me and my family in keeping our home, and the stress of not being able to pay my bills could worsen my heart condition.
