Tom Holter worked as a ropeman and iron worker in the Butte mines for over 26 years until a life-threatening injury forced him him to leave his job and accept Social Security Disability Insurance. Since then he has continued to rely on Social Security benefits. He is a veteran who was married to his wife Barbara for almost 50 years before she passed away. They have 4 children and 8 grandchildren together. Tom currently works as a volunteer guide at the World Museum of Mining in Butte.
