I am Lisa; I live in Manchester New Hampshire with my son.
My son is autistic, mentally challenged and has a behavioral disorder. My son is on Supplemental Security Income (SSI). Although the SSI check my son gets is not enough to cover living expenses, it does help. If SSI was to be reduced or scrapped, I don’t know how I would manage to take care of my son because he is not able to work due to mental and health challenges he faces.
My son is an adult, but he can’t take care of himself. I am his caregiver which means that I have to take care of all his needs from clothing him to feeding him. I have sacrificed going to work to look after him.
Supplemental Security Income makes a difference in my son’s life, and it’s important to those who need it.
